Lots to talk about, lots to talk about. First thing is, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in my latest contest called, "Have you ever been haunted?" It was so fun and I really wish I could have sent everyone prizes. The discussion on hauntings can continue. All you need to do is visit HERE and share your story. I'll continue to comment, may be I'll even share some of the stories here at the blog.
Jess and I went to see the newest X-men movie this week. X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE was a pretty intense movie. They threw in just about every cliche' possible from

walking away while something blows up behind you to screaming while the camera pans out over you and a dying loved one. And the effects were a little disappointing at times (which was a big surprise considering the great team responsible for creating them). That said, it had a solid plot and great acting. The movie was very character driven and well done. It was worth the ticket price for Hugh Jackman's performance alone (and I am not a big HJ fan-he really was that good in this).
Next we took a really fun day trip that ended up being the reason for the title of this blog. While Jess took care of business, I got to explore a place I seldom get to see and give my mom a fun Mother's Day present. It's always a challenge to find the right way to ship the best presents from several states away.
I was able to finish Stephen Colbert's I AM AMERICA (AND SO CAN YOU), finally. It was a fun read. I did enjoy AMERICA: THE BOOK, a little better. The Colbert book was a little disappointing as a read but I think that could have been solved by listening to the audio version. So much of Stephen's character and wit is dependent upon his voice and mannerisms that, to me, it lost something without his inflections. Mr. Colbert (off camera) may or may not like this, but to this fan, it's not so much what he says that's so funny-it's him and his ability to deliver his lines.
I've been watching Jess's following at her blogspot Jibberings grow. From May Day (May 1st) to the 15th she's offered to give away five fantastic books (that I totally helped pick out;)) to five lucky followers of her blog. She has a much more entertaining blog than I do, so if you haven't started following her yet, now's a great time to do it. Click HERE to visit Jibberings and comment as often as you can-she LOVES that.
Just a reminder that the lovely, Melissa Marr, visited Nashville recently on her FRAGILE ETERNITY tour, and was nice enough to offer me a giveaway for this blog. As Jess's "Where my Peeps at?" contest closes, I'll be announcing the dates for a Wicked cool contest over here. Between Get the Goods and contests, we're starting to get on a first name basis at the post office. Isn't getting and sending mail AWESOME?!?
And, speaking of awesome, STAR TREK debuted in theatres this weekend and last night

we went to check it out. We were not to be disappointed. Fear not Trekees, you won't be disappointed either. J. J. Abrams pulled out all the stops to recreate Star Trek for a whole new generation (no pun intended). By doing the movie the way that they did, they'll be able to completely redo the franchise without being able to screw it up. You'll have to actually see the movie to figure out what I mean. Don't "do" Star Trek?? No problem, this flick was made by a non-Star Trek person, so it's made for everybody. It was a great movie.
That's it. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. Hope you had a great day.
